Whether it's your very first facial or a return visit for lip enhancement, a little prep goes a long way. The right routine in the days leading up to your appointment helps your skin respond beautifully — and keeps results lasting longer. Here's exactly how the Divine team recommends getting ready.
1. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
Well-hydrated skin heals faster, swells less and looks plumper after treatment. Aim for at least 2 litres of water a day in the 48 hours before your appointment — and skip the wine the night before if you can. Hydrated skin is happy skin.
2. Pause certain products
Active ingredients are wonderful, but they can leave skin sensitised right before a treatment. As a general rule, pause:
- Retinol / retinoids — stop 3–5 days before
- Strong acids (AHA / BHA / glycolic) — stop 2–3 days before
- Vitamin C serums on the morning of treatment
- Exfoliating scrubs for 48 hours prior
Stick to a gentle cleanser and moisturiser in the lead-up — your therapist will take it from there.
3. Skip blood-thinners (where you can)
For lip filler, micro-needling or anything involving needles, avoid alcohol, ibuprofen, fish oil and high-dose vitamin E for 24–48 hours beforehand. These can increase bruising. Paracetamol is fine if you need it. Always check with your GP before pausing prescribed medication.
4. Eat beforehand
A light meal an hour before your appointment keeps blood sugar steady and helps you feel your best — especially for longer treatments. Bring a snack if you're prone to feeling lightheaded.
5. Come with a clean canvas
For facials and aesthetic treatments, arrive with no makeup if possible. For brows or lashes, skip oil-based cleansers and waterproof mascara that morning. We have wipes at the salon if you're coming straight from work — just give yourself a few extra minutes.
6. Plan your downtime
Most of our treatments have minimal downtime, but it's worth knowing what to expect:
- Facials & dermaplaning — pink glow for a few hours
- Lip enhancement — mild swelling 24–48 hours
- Micro-needling — redness for 1–2 days
- Brow lamination & tint — avoid water for 24 hours
Try not to book major events the day after a treatment — give your skin a moment to settle and shine.
7. Bring your questions
Every consultation starts with a chat. Bring photos of looks you love, a list of any medications or allergies, and any worries — no question is too small. We're here to make you feel confident, informed and completely at ease.
The Divine difference
Our therapists take time to tailor every treatment to you. Walk in feeling anything you like — nervous, excited, undecided — and walk out glowing. That's the promise.
